Blockchain Developer Roadmap
You write code that moves value and cannot be patched after deploy - which is why security is the whole job. A niche, volatile, well-paying corner: $80-110k US indicative entry, usually reached with solid web/backend skills first. Audited-quality Solidity is the scarce skill.

Blockchain Developer roadmap FAQ
Is blockchain development still a viable career in 2026?
Smaller and less hyped than 2021, but real: DeFi, infrastructure, tokenisation and audit firms hire steadily. It is a specialist bet - pair it with solid general engineering so your career does not track token prices.
What should I learn - Solidity or something else?
Solidity/EVM remains the largest ecosystem and job pool; Rust (Solana) is the strong second. Learn EVM first, and remember most "blockchain" jobs are 70% ordinary full-stack work around the contracts.
How do security audits fit in?
Security IS the specialisation: contracts are immutable and hold funds, so mistakes are exploits. Studying real exploit post-mortems and doing audit-style exercises (Ethernaut, Damn Vulnerable DeFi) is both the best learning and the best-paying trajectory.
