Product Manager Roadmap

You decide what gets built and why - accountable for outcomes with authority over almost no one. Entry (APM) roles run $80-110k US; the common doors are APM programs, or sideways moves from engineering, support, analytics or design where you already act like a PM.

Product Manager roadmap FAQ

How do I become a PM with no product experience?

Three real doors: APM programs (competitive, structured), the sideways move (engineer/support/analyst who keeps taking product-shaped work until the title follows - the most common route), or PM at a small startup where titles are cheap and scope is huge. In all three, evidence of product thinking beats certificates.

Do PMs need to be technical?

You need technical literacy - APIs, databases, how software ships, what is expensive to change - not the ability to build. Enough to earn engineer trust, estimate feasibility smell, and never promise the impossible. This roadmap includes exactly that layer.

What do PM interviews actually test?

Product sense (improve/design a product), execution (metrics, trade-offs, prioritisation), and stakeholder judgement (conflict, saying no). Practise structured answers aloud - rambling kills more PM candidacies than wrong answers.
